Fact of the Day: Who discovered the Hudson River?

Hudson River mapNo, Henry Hudson didn’t discover the river named for him. Hudson did explore the river in 1609, but it was first discovered by Europeans in 1524. The person who discovered it was Italian Giovanni da Verrazano. So, Hudson got the river named after him, and all Verrazano got was the New York bridge.
